Marine LCL service

Marine LCL service

As a container is packed together with goods from different owners, it is called LCL. This situation is adopted when the consignor's consignment quantity is not enough to fill the whole container. LCL cargo classification, sorting, concentration, packing (unpacking), delivery and other work are carried out at the carrier's terminal container freight station or inland container transfer station.

LCL is the opposite of FCL, which refers to goods containing less than a full container of small bills.

This kind of cargo is usually collected separately by the carrier and concentrated in the container freight station or inland station, and then two or more pieces of cargo assembled

In a container, unpacked and delivered separately at the destination container terminal or inland terminal.

For such goods, the carrier is responsible for packing and unpacking, and the charges for such unpacking and unpacking shall still be charged to the shipper.

The carrier's liability for LCL is essentially the same as for conventional grocery transportation.

LCL can be divided into direct LCL and transshipment LCL. Direct LCL means that the goods in LCL containers are loaded and unloaded at the same port and are not unpacked until the goods arrive at the destination port. That is, the goods are unloaded at the same port. This kind of LCL service has a short shipping period and is convenient and fast. Generally, powerful LCL companies will provide only this kind of service. Transhipment refers to goods in containers at different ports of destination that need to be unpacked and unloaded or transhipped on the way. Such goods due to different destination ports, long waiting time and other factors, so the delivery period is long, and even high freight.
